Modern Diabetes Care Product More Effective Than Ever

Modern science has been making considerable and important strides in providing better diabetes care and nowhere is this more evident than in the fact that today numerous new diabetes care products are being sold that effectively aid a diabetic in living a better quality of life. The late seventies and eighties saw major new advances in the production of diabetes care products including products such as blood glucose monitoring devices, disposable insulin syringes as well as insulin infusion pumps, and insulin pens as well as Human insulin as too Glucagon insulin.

The nineties saw this trend of producing better diabetes care products continue and the year 1993 saw the introduction of Diabetes Control and Complications Trial or DCCT which was the largest, the longest ever study of diabetes being undertaken that resulted in introduction of improved measures to control diabetes.

However, nowhere is the improvement in diabetes care products more evident than in the case of the more precise syringes that come with finer and improved needles. Diabetics are often prescribed having to take through injection and other means, insulin in doses of about half unit increments over the long term. With the introduction of the new and improved diabetes care products such as the BD UltraFine II Short Needle Half Unit Scale getting the dosage right has never been so simple and accurate.

Better technology has also enabled patients to make use of improved diabetes care products such as insulin pumps that are more miniaturized as well as computer controlled which help in delivering insulin through flexible tubes made from plastic. These pumps help in mimicking the pancreas (healthy) and so can offer insulin in two different ways. Firstly, they provide continuous and rhythmic drips and secondly, the pump gives the patient added insulin whenever they eat a meal.

The future as far as effective diabetes care products go is bright as newer technologies are being developed which will help to measure blood sugar levels and newer insulin too is being developed which will mean that even the insulin that diabetics will receive in the future will be different than what they are presently getting.

To ensure that diabetics get the best in diabetes nursing care the American Diabetes Association has come up with certain standards that will help guide the nursing fraternity into being more careful in the way that they treat their patients. Proper nursing care means that every aspect of diabetes needs to be studied and then suitable treatment methods need to be identified and used. This can only be achieved if proper research is done on the subject which fortunately is being conducted all across the US.
