Degenerative Arthritis of the Spine: A Common Affliction

If there is any one type of arthritis that is misunderstood, it is degenerative arthritis of the spine. This is one of the rarer types of arthritis, but one that millions of people around the world are still diagnosed with on a regular basis. With degenerative arthritis of the spine, the cartilage in the back becomes brittle and wears away, and the bones of the spine degenerate.

This is obviously then a very serious condition one that you need to watch out for and deal with right away rather than letting go untreated because this can result in permanent damage and possibly even be life threatening.

With degenerative arthritis of the spine, you have to be worried about your entire spine being affected and possibly letting up on you.

The degenerative arthritis treatment here is very different than with any other type of arthritis. After all with degenerative arthritis of the spine, you are dealing with one of the most important areas of your body and so you really need to make sure that it is in good condition and that you are not letting a disease such as arthritis eat away at it.

In terms of the treatment here, the first thing that you should start is quite simple, and that is to get some rest. When you are dealing with your spine one of the best things that you can do for yourself is just lie down and get some rest. Stop being so active, and let your back get some time just lying there and not putting it under any stress.

One other type of treatment that you may want to try is the cortisone injection. If you want an effective degenerative arthritis treatment this should be one right at the top of your list. Corticosteroids are not pain relievers, but they do reduce inflammation and stop the swelling. The injections can be used to treat the inflammation of small areas of the body or they can also be used to treat inflammation that is widespread throughout the day.

Dealing with arthritis can certainly be difficult but it is something that just has to be done. You are going to have to step up and get the treatment that you need to keep your condition manageable and under control.

Arthritis can take over your life, or you can do what you have to and keep it under control and your pain at bay.
